ROSA MAHLER KING

Rosa Louise Mahler, daughter of Maxmilian and Rosina Ritter Mahler, was born Jan. 14, 1887, and died Nov. 15, 1946, aged 68 years and 10 months.

She was one of a large family and spent her early life on the farm of her parents north of Bonaparte. She attended the rural school and was a rural teacher.

On Jan. 23, 1901, she was united in marriage with Michael A. King. They first made their home in Ottumwa, later moving to Urbandale, a suburb of Des Moines. Her hudband preceded her in death on March 9, 1943. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Gretchen Wiemann and grandchild, Mary Theresa Wiemann.

She was a kind, loving wife and mother and a true neighbor. Her greatest pleasure was in caring for her home and family. After her husband's death she maintained her own home but spent much of her time in her daughter's home where she passed away suddenly of a heart attack.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother and two sister. Surviving are her daughter and husband and grandchild, also five sisters, Mrs. Anna Dea and Mrs. Theresa Nass of Glasgow, Mont., Mrs. Amelia Alexander and Mrs. Pauline Brewster of Bonaparte, and Mrs. Jennie Hays of Grinnell, Iowa; also two brothers, Fred and Frank Mahler of Bonaparte.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith as a child and on moving to Urbandale became a charter member of the Holy Trinity church.

Funeral services were conducted Nov. 18, 1946, by the Rev. Father Ostedick from the Holy Trinity church with interment in Glendale cemetery.
