**Handwritten: MARION H. DeHART

Marion Hanan DeHart was born June 4th, 1886, in Van Buren county, Iowa, near Mt. Sterling, and passed away at his home in Keosauqua, Dec. 21, at the age of 80 years, 6 months and 17 days.

He was a son of Edward and Martha Hanan DeHart. He received his education in the schools of this county and attended the Keosauqua high schoo, and also attended the Burlington Business College. For a number of years he was a teacher in the rural schools of this county.

On August 23, 1894, he was married to Winifred E. Henry at Bonaparte, Iowa. To this union four daughters were born, Marie, Edith, Nina and Hazel.

In early manhood, Mr. DeHart joined the Methodist church at Center Chapel, later transferring his membership to the Keosauqua Methodist church, where he was an active member in the Sunday school and church, as long as health permitted.

He was elected and served as Van Buren County Auditor from 1915 to 1919 and also served as a member of the Board of Directors of Van Buren County Mutual Telephone Co., for a number of years, later becoming president and declining re-election because of failing health.

Mr. DeHart was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Besides his wife he is survived by his daughters, Mrs. Gordon Gove and Mrs. Weldon Lee of Keosauqua, Mrs. Edith Smith of Fairfield, and Mrs. Bruce Beall of Long Beach, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Newman of Encampment, Wyo.; three granddaughters and a number of nieces and nephews, many other relatives and a large number of friends.

He was vitally interested in home, loved ones and the community. He bore his infirmities, failing health and blindness with a great deal of patience and forbearance, and his faith in God was undimmed by his afflictions, and all through these declining years he never complained and was never happier than when his loved ones were near him or when visitors called upon him.

Funeral services were held at the Keosauqua Methodist church Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Treverton Warren in charge of the service. Interment was in Purdom cemetery. Pallbearers included: Hazel Blackburn, Bates Manning, Vern Robinson, Monte Rambo, Chet Barker and Gene Hannam.
