Charles Wilmore Witt, 90, died Sunday morning following a short illness at his home near Keosauqua where he had lived 54 years.

He was a son of Stephen C. and Margaret Davis Witt, born near Berea, Kentucky, Jan. 28, 1856, and would have been 91 years old next January.

He was united in marriage with Sarah A. Zachau Jan. 11, 1881, and to this union eleven children were born, two of whom preceded him in death, an infant son in 1893, and Sallie, in 1924.

Surviving are his wife, Sarah Ann; six sons, Charles of Douds, Clarence of Keosauqua, allen of Stockport, Samuel of Bridger, Mont., John of Grants Pass, Ore., and George of Johnston, Iowa; three daughters, Mrs. E.J. Warren and Miss Jennie Witt of Keosauqua and Della Ruth at home; a brother, John of Keosauqua; 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Late in life he gave his heart to Christ and became a member of Center Chapel Methodist church. He was a great lover of home and never so happy as when the children came home for the day.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Burnett funeral home in Keosauqua with Rev. Treverton Warren of the Methodist church in charge. Interment in Fellows cemetery.
