Benjamin Gove
John Benjamin Gove, 77, died at 9:45 a.m. Saturday at his home in Keosauqua after a long illness.
He was born in Henderson county, Illinois, and had lived in Van Buren county 40 years. He was a retired farmer, having moved to Keosauqua five years ago from the farm south of town. He was a member of the Woodman lodge 51 years.
Surviving are his wife, Ella; two sons, Gordon and Lowell; a daughter, Mrs. Ray Brownlee; a brother, Frank, and a sister, Mrs. Perry Pendarvis, all of Keosauqua; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Methodist church in charge of the Rev. Treverton Warren, pastor, and the Rev. J.C. Austin. Burial was in Purdom cemetery.
