Death of Wm. H. Ford.

January the 19, 1899, Wm. H. Ford died at his home in Keosauqua of la grippe, having been confined to his bed from Saturday to the following Thursday, when his soul took its flight to the other world. He was born in Ohio in 1818, came to Iowa in 1844, and in 1845 located in Keosauqua, which was ever afterwards his home. In 1846 he was married to Miss F.H. Alexander, who survives along with three sons, Henry, living near Terre Haute, Indiana; Charles, near Dubuque, this state, and Frank of St. Paul, Minnesota. Mr. Ford was a carpenter by trade, and worked at it until the feebleness of age prevented. He was a good citizen and of clean character. His has been a familiar face on the streets and in the offices and places of business in Keosauqua for many years, and he will be greatly missed. The funeral was held Saturday, Rev. Patterson of the M.E. church, conducting the services, assisted by Rev. Charles E. Perkins of the Congregational church, the burial being in the Oak Lawn cemetery. The pall bearers were J.G. Thompson, S.D. Fellows, W.A. Duckworth, J.A. Fowler, L.O. Linsley and Leroy Merideth, old time friends of the deceased.
