Robert A. McCarty, Jr., 37, of Birmingham, died September 19, 2016, at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City from in
juries sustained in a car accident. He was born February 21, 1979, to Robert Sr. and Dovie Shuffler McCarty. He married Ricki Boyd in April of 1998 in Farmington and they later divorced. He married Rachael Counts, January 29, 2005, in Stockport.

Robbie grew up in Van Buren County and spent all of his adult life there. He attended Harmony Schools. He had been a member of the Eagles Club in Fairfield and enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles and being a mechanic.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Rachael McCarty of Hillsboro, two sons with Ricki, Clinton McCarty of Farmington and Austin McCarty of Farmington, three brothers, Rick McCarty (Sierra) of Fairfield, Richard McCarty (Cady) of Richland and Renny McCarty (Hannah) of Selma, two step sons, Dakota Haynes of Hillsboro and Deven Kite of Cedar Rapids, three grandmothers, Dorothy Cook of Libertyville, Linda McCarty of Bonaparte and Vel Brereton of Fairfield.

He was preceded in death by three grandfathers, Richard McCarty, Lloyd Berereton and Clarence Cook.

Funeral services were September 22, 2016, at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with Larry Shipley officiating. In accordance with his wishes, cremation followed the service.
