Dorothy E. Carter, 94, of Mt. Pleasant died September 17, 2016, at Park Place Elder Living in Mt. Pleasant. She was born February 14, 1922, in Van Buren County to Rex and Iva Wallingford Hooper and married Roger N. Carter on June 3, 1939, in Fairfield. He died November 23, 1987.

Dorothy grew up and attended school in Van Buren County. In her married years she had lived in Van Buren, Jefferson and Henry Counties and most recently in Hillsboro and Mt. Pleasant. When her boys were younger she enjoyed playing cards and camping. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, gardening and coffee with friends.

Surviving are three sons, Gary Carter (Marlene) of Mt. Pleasant, Gene Carter (Linda) and Gale Carter (Marie), all of Hillsboro, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many friends

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by an infant son, Roger Jr., two brothers, Harry and Leo Hooper, and a grandson, Tim Carter.

Funeral services were held September 20, 2016, at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua with Pastor Bryan Katchay officiating. Burial was in Miller Chapel Cemetery, northeast of Keosauqua.
