Jordan Payne.

Uncle Jordan Payne died Friday morning after a severe illness. He was about 80 years old. He was born in Kentucky a slave, was sold to a Dr. Buckner near Lousiana, Mo., and lived there until 1863, when he came here. During Dr. Buckner's life time he used to send for Uncle Jordan to come and visit him, paying his expenses each way. He was an excellent cook, and had many good qualities. He was buried by the G.A.R.s, Rev. Patterson preaching the funeral sermon.
