DEATH OF PAUL S. MILLER.
Passed Away at St. Louis Thursday Night Last - The Funeral Saturday.

Paul S. Miller, whose critical illness was mentioned in these columns last week, died at St. Louis Thursday night, the 18th. Deceased went to St. Louis with his sister, Mrs. A.W. Manning, in March last. He had not been well all summer, dut(but) he became seriously ill about the middle of September, and had not been able to lie down for three months past. Mr. C.K. Miller went to St. Louis about four weeks ago. Death was due to dropsy, caused by heart and kidney trouble. The body arrived here Saturday morning, accompanied by Mrs. Manning, Mr. Miller, H.B. Sloan and Bates Manning. It was met at the depot by relatives, the officiating clergyman, the pall bearers and many others. The funeral was held from his late home at 2 p.m., Rev. C.E. Perkins conducting the services. The pall bearers were his intimate friends, Messrs. George Savage, George Hartson, E.E. Whitney, S.E. Irish, Carry A. Wilkin and Henry Strickling. They placed upon the casket a pillow of roses, carnations and smilax. The Elks lodge of Ottumwa, of which deseased(sp) was a member, sent a large panel of roses.

Paul Shelby Miller was born at this place 31 years ago. He had practically lived here all his life until last March. He attended our schools, and after his school days were over, he did a collection and insurance business. He had a wide circle of acquaintances and friends.
