-The many friends of Curtis Anson and wife, who a few years ago moved from Henry township, this county, to Bakersfield, California, will be pained to read the following account of the drowning of their little boy, who was born Dec. 12, 1904. The accident happened near the home on Sunday, June 10, 1906. The Bakersfield Morning Echo has this account of the sad affair: "Harry Lee Anson, the 18-months old son of Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Anson, was drowned in an irrigating ditch near its home in the Lowell addition Sunday evening. The mother was getting the other children ready to go to the children's Day service at the First Methodist church when the little boy went out into the yard at one side of the house. The irrigating ditch is crossed by a foot bridge and it is supposed that the baby fell from this bridge into the water, which was eighteen inches or two feet deep. When the child was missed the father ran at once to the ditch and found the little boy floating a few yards below the foot bridge. Although the child had been in the water a very short time all efforts to resusciate(sp) him were unavailing. Coroner Mullins was notified of the accident and a formal inquest was held Sunday evening. The funeral will be held this morning at 10 o'clock from the First Methodist church. The parents of the child are well known residents of the Lowell addition, and they have many friends who sympathize with them in their sad bereavement."
