MORTUARY RECORD
MRS. RUTH FORBES.

The death of Mrs. Ruth Forbes occurred Saturday after a long illness with cancer of the throat. The funeral was held at the Congregational church Monday at 11 o'clock. There was a large attendance of old friends and neighbors from the vicinity of Mt. Zion, showing the esteem in which this good woman was held by those who knew her best. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. C.E. Perkins assisted by Rev. C.L. Wheeler.

The concluding part of Mr. Perkins address was as follows:

Our sister seemed to me to be a very patient person, and very submissive to the burden of pain which had been laid upon her. I do not doubt that my brother pastor, Mr. Wheeler, who saw her frequently during these later weeks, would bear like testimony. And too, I am sure he would agree with me, that one of the grounds of her great patience lay in the cloudless faith with which she faced her own future. It would end some day, that dreadful affliction, she knew. And then, God would give her the sovereign relief; the new, well, strong body of the immortal life; the joy of reunion with her blessed dead, loved long since and lost awhile, the endless happiness and noble activities of the great Paradise of the redeemed.

Ruth E. Shipley was born in Tennessee July 20th, 1832, and departed this life April 24th, 1906, being 73 years, 8 months and 27 days old when her life in this world was ended.

She came with her parents to Van Buren county, Iowa, in 1853, where most of her life since was spent. She was united in marriage to Robert Forbes, deceased, in 1855. To them was born a little daughter Mattie, who died when quite young.

Mr. Forbes died in the year, 1888, since which time Mrs. Forbes has lived most of the time in the home in which she died. She joined the church when quite young, and has ever since been a faithful, earnest Christian.

She leaves two brother and two sisters to mourn her loss, besides host of near relatives and friends to whom she was a kind and helpful adviser, thoughtful for others at all times.
