Guy S. Sturdivant, son of IV. C. and Jennie Sturdivant, was born in Bonaparte Township, November 29, 1810, and died at Memphis. Mo., October 23, 1896, aged 25 years, 10 months and 24 days. He was married August 26, 1896, to Miss Flora Burrier, who survives him. He also leaves to mourn his early death a mother, four brothers and one sister, besides many other more distant relatives and numberless friends.
The death of this young man is much deplored by all of our people, for all knew him and respected him. Almost all of his life was spent in our immediate vicinity, and the past few years in our town, where he was a general favorite among all of our people and it is needless to say that general expressions of sorrow were heard last Saturday morning when the message announcing his death was received and made known here.
The remains were brought to Bonaparte for interment and arrived at an early hour Sunday morning.
The funeral services occurred from his home, three miles northeast of Bonaparte, Sunday afternoon, Oct. 25, 1896, conducted by Rev. V. C. Sheppard, of Farmington, and the remains laid down to final rest in the White cemetery.
The management of the funeral was under the auspices of Napoleon Lodge, No. 309, Knights of Pythias, of Bonaparte, of which Guy was an honored member, and they were ably assisted by many Knights from Farmington, Mt. Sterling, Memphis, Bentonsport, Keosauqua and other places.
The bereaved family of the deceased have the deepest sympathy of the entire community
