DOUD, RODGERS

Mrs. W.F. Doud.

Mrs. Ella Rodgers Doud was born in the old town of Iowaville, on July 20, 1864. She was married to Wm. F. Doud, Oct. 29, 1885, and died at her home on the farm adjoining Douds, Jan. 20, 1903. She leaves her husband, five children, an aged mother and two brothers, besides many other relatives, neighbors and friends who will miss that bright smiling face - in the home particularly - for who can tell but the husband and children what she was to them, who can fathom the depth of a mother's love and patience in life's trials. Her last words were for the little one she had in her arms when death came so suddenly. We know when the reaper comes he takes the richest sheaf of all, and so it seems in this case. Just, as it seems to us, as she was ready to begin to realize the fruits of her labors and to enjoy life in the new home just completed, she was called to that better home above, where she is now watching and waiting for her loved ones. Let us try to fell that:

"There is no death; the stars go down
To rise on some fairer, shore,
And bright in Heaven's jeweled crown
They shine forever more.

"And ever near us, though unseen,
The dear immortal spirits tread,
For them the boundless universe
Is life. They are not dead."
