B.M. CRANS.

Cantril Leader: B.M. Crans was born in Tioga county, New York, May 26, 1818, died May 8, 1906; lacking only a few days of being 88 years of age.

In 1842 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Mons to which union nine children were born. While a young man he was an engineer on the New York & Erie railroad and spent the years between 1861 and 1868 in California.

In 1869 he lost his companion and in 1871 removed with his family to Milton, Iowa, and has since for the most part been a resident of this state.

On November 4, 1875 he was united in marriage to Harriett Boyd. To this union one son was born who died May 26, 1897, aged 18 years.

Father Crans was a highly respected citizen, a member of the M.E. Church at Cantril. Since early manhood until hindered by the infirmities of age he followed for the most part of the work of a blacksmith. Only a few days ago he was taken suddenly ill and with but little suffering quietly passed away early Tuesday morning Mary 8, 1906.

Funeral services conducted at the M.E. church Wednesday, May 9, by Revs. Gilbert and Wright.
