MORTUARY ROCORD(err)

Eva Coffman

Eva Myrtle, daughter of Abraham L. and Martha Coffman, of Chequest was born March 2, 1883, and died Feb. 9, 1904, at the age of 20 years, 11 months and 7 days.

Her father has lived in his present home, four miles northwest of Lebanon, since the spring of 1867, having moved to that place shortly after his marriage, so that Eva was born, grew to womanhood and died in the same community and was known and loved by all. She was converted and united with the Methodist Episcopal church in March, 1898, and was still a member at the time of her death. She had no fear of death. We are satisfied that she did not expect to get well.

On Dec. 28, she went to visit her sister in Des Moines. While there she took the measles but seemed to get over them and returned home. Immediately she was taken ill with typhoid fever. Her condition grew rapidly worse until the end came.

Eva's mother passed away Feb. 15, 1899. There remain of the family to mourn her early death her father, three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services, conducted by her pastor, Rev. George L. Minear, were held at the home on Feb. 11, and her body was laid to rest in the Groves cemetery.

Eva is gone. She will be greatly missed, but she has entered into the larger and richer life and Jesus is our comfort. He says, "I will not leave you comfortless."
