SUDDEN DEATH OF MRS. CARR

Asphyxiated at the Home of Her Son F.D. Carr - Entire Community Saddened

Farmington News-Republican: Last Sunday morning the community was shocked by a telephone message from Des Moines which told of an accident which caused the death of Mrs. Margaret A. Carr. Mrs. Carr left Saturday morning for Des Moines to pay a visit to F.D. Carr and family. She was in the best of health for a person of her years, stood the tiresome trip to the city so well that she spent the evening in the city sight seeing with the Carr family. After returning home the evening was spent in conversation and visiting until after mid night when all retired. About six in the morning Mr. Carr was awakened by the odor of gas and on hasty investigation discovered his mother had died from asphyxiation. Just how this terrible accident occurred cannot be definitely determined but it is supposed in her extreme caution she accidentally, part ally [sic] turned the gas jet on which caused the fatal accident.

The remains were brought here for burial, and the services were conducted from the residence of J.E. Carr by Rev. D.W. Phillips.

Her many friends are greatly shocked at her sad and untimely demise and extend their deepest sympathy to the bereaved family.
