DEATH OF MRS. L.W. CANTRIL IN WEST

Newton Cantril of Pittsburg has received news of the death of his mother, Mrs. Hattie E. Cantril, widow of L.W. Cantril, formerly of this county, which occurred at her home at Dayton, Wash. Mrs. Cantril died Jan. 21 and was buried Jan. 23. The L.W. Cantril family was the most prominent in the southern part of the county. Mr. Cantril was county supervisor at the time the Pittsburg, Bentonsport and Farmington River bridges were built - contracted for at one session of the board.

Mr. Cantril for a number of years had a store at South Keosauaqua, but moved to land he had bought in Jackson township whereon, when the railroad was built in 1872, a station was located, which was named in honor of Mr. Cantril, who was a most exemplary and highly respected citizen. Mr. Cantril died at Dayton, Wash., a number of years ago. Mrs. Cantril was 78 years, 2 month and 2 days.
