OBITUARY.

Mrs. Mary Miller Bell was born in Indiana, Aug. 24, 1842. She was married to John R. Bell, Dec. 3, 1877. To this union were born two children, one of whom died in infancy, the other, Miss Carried, remain to mourn the loss of her mother, Mrs. Bell united with the Methodist Episcopal church when about 15 years of age. In which church fellowship she remained until her death. She was a devout, earnest conscientious Christian, not demonstrative in her disposition, but in her quiet way living for those with whom providence brought her in touch. As a wife, true and loyal and kind. As a step-mother showing the same affection for her step-children as for her own. As a mother, warm hearted, loving and kind. Those who knew her best speak in the highest terms of her excellent qualities. She has been in delicate health for a number of years, and died Jan. 15, 1910, in her late home in Keosauqua. Besides her step-children and their children and her own daughter Carrie, she leaves two sisters and one brother to mourn her loss. The two sisters were permitted to be present at her burial.

The funeral services were held at her late home Jan. 17, 1910, conducted by her pastor, W.G. Thorn, assisted by Rev. J.W. Cheney.
