Death of Wm. Anson.

The death of Wm. Anson, which took place Thursday of last week, removed from the county one of its best citizens. Mr. Anson was born in Pike county, Mo., Sept. 8, 1828. His parents came to Van Buren county in 1836. His father made his claim on the south side of the Des Moines river below Keosauqua, built a cabin and put in some corn, and returned and brought his family in the December following. Mr. Anson was united in marriage to Miss Charlotte Martin living near Mt. Zion, and who survive him, June 15, 1862. Mr. Anson with his brother Thos. owned about 1,000 acres of land. Mr. Anson had been sick sometime but it was not supposed his condition was critical, hence his death was entirely unexpected. The funeral was held Friday at Center Chapel, and was the largest ever held at that church. Their were 69 teams in the procession. Mr. Anson was an honorable, upright, universally respected citizen.
