Last Saturday afternoon Clarence the 17-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. N.J. Anderson, who lived on the Ezra Williams farm northeast of Birmingham, a few years ago, was drowned in Cedar creek, 6 miles west of Fairfield, and one horse he was driving was also drowned. In company with his brother-in-law, William Heston they attempted or ford the creek returning home from hauling a load of corn to a neighbor. The recent rains had raised the creek considerably and the current near the ford was very swift. The empty wagon bed was swept off its bearings and horses became loosened. The current was too swift for the boy and he was drowned before aid could reach him but his remains were found Sunday morning.
