Mrs. J.C. Behrens, Pastor's Wife, Dies

DRAKESVILLE. - Mrs. J.C. Behrens, 72, whose husband is supply minister of the Drakesville Methodist church, died at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Ottumwa hospital. Ill of a heart ailment several years, she had been at the hospital two days.

Funeral services will be held at the Drakesville Methodist church at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Dr. Frank Lister of Bloomfield will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant. The body is at the Wagler funeral home in Bloomfield.

Mrs. Behrens was born November 14, 1879, at Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of John G. and Catherine Koch. She attended German college at Mt. Pleasant prior to her marriage September 9, 1902, to Mr. Behrens. Working with him during 49 years of ministry, she lived at Mt. Union, New London, Agency, Winfield, Williamsburg, Moulton, Keosauqua, Milton and Keokuk. At the latter city he was pastor of the Twelfth Street Methodist church when he retired in 1950. They had since lived at Drakesville. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star at Keosauqua.

Surviving besides her husband are three daughters, Miss Ruth Behrens, teacher at Boone; Mrs. Lera Gillaspey of Prescott, Ariz., and Mrs. Ed Anderson of 615 East Fourth street, Ottumwa; a brother, George Koch of Mt. Pleasant; three sisters, Mrs. Emma Ernst of Wayland and Helen and Catherine Koch of Mt. Pleasant and eight grandchildren.
