DIED.

SMITH - At the residence of Mr. J. Shane, of this city, MISS ZADY SMITH.

She was born in Van Buren Co., Iowa, Jan 9th 1854, and departed this life, Sept. 28th, 1877.

Her illness was of but two weeks duration, having first an attack of dysentery, from which she recovered sufficiently to walk about the house again, but on last Sabbath evening was again confined to her bed with acute peritonitis.

Her friends were called and all that loving hands could do was attended to, but no power could stay the progress of disease and on Friday morning as day was dawning, a brighter morn appeared to the sufferer, leaving the parents, brother and sisters, to mourn her sudden departures.

Some five years since ZADY united with the M.E. Church at Pittsburg; for three years past, she has resided with Mr. and Mrs. John Shane, by whom she was held in high esteem and to whom she was equally attached.

No one with such a character as ZADY possessed could pass away and not be sadly missed. She was loved by all who knew her; a lady in the truest sense of the word, quiet and kindhearted to all. Her place in the Sabbath school, was scarcely ever vacant - never without good cause.

Truly, "A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favors rather than silver and gold."
