Floyd Murray

Floyd Murray, 56, suffered a fatal heart attack around 8 o'clock Friday evening, April 10. He was born in 1902 in Van Buren county where he spent most of his life.

On January 14, 1938 he was united in marriage with Christina Overlander Murray. To this union was born one child, George, who enlisted in the Coast Guard and is stationed in Connecticut. He also had three step-children who were near and dear to him as his own. They are T/Sgt. Jack Giberson of the Air Force, who is stationed in Iceland; Mrs. Ruth Remick of Gladstone, Ill.; and Mrs. Janet Keefer of Park Forest, Ill. Also surviving him are six grandchildren. He leaves three brothers and three sisters. They are Lee of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Stanley of Chilicothe(sp), Ohio, James of Wisconsin, Edith of Ohio, Lina of Missouri and Erma of Kansas.

He was preceded by his parents, three brothers, Earl, Ora and Forest and one sister, Mrs. Nellie Thomas.

He enlisted in the United States Army in 1920 at the age of 19 and served until the expiration of his time of services. He was a farmer most of his life until about 5 years ago.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 13 at the Burnett-Catcott funeral home with the Rev. John A. Nye officiating. Burial was in Pittsburg cemetery.
