Frances D. Muntz 1921-2016

Frances D. Muntz, 94, of Farmington, IA, passed away at 7:05 p.m. Monday, June 27, 2016, at the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka, MO.

Frances Darlene DeRoSear was born in Bonaparte, IA, on September 30, 1921. She was the daughter of Dewey and Mabel (Pfeifer) DeRosear. Her grandparents were William and Margaret Pfeifer and Isaac and Viola DeRosear. She married Harold E. Muntz of rural Farmington on June 28, 1941. They were the parents of two sons: Harold Wayne and Ronald Lee.

She is survived by her son, Dr. Ronald (Betty) Muntz, daughter-in-law, Ann Muntz, five grandchildren, Dr. Lori Muntz and her husband Dr. Todd Bremerton, Dr. Daniel Alan and his wife Dr. Harumi Kuno, Sheri and her husband Dave Dudek, Kim Muntz and her husband Paul Roocroft, great-grandchildren, Derrick Wayne Muntz, Gene, Josie, Savana and Jeffrey Dudek.

She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, Paul Woods, husband Harold E., son, Harold Wayne, grandson, Jeffrey Muntz, and sister, Pauline Woods.

Frances and Harold were farmers. Harold did a lot of custom work and Frances worked a few years at the Sheaffer Pen Company. Frances was valedictorian of her high school class and an excellent basketball player. She deeply loved the farm, her animals and her family. She whistled while washing dishes looking over the fields from the kitchen window.

A private interment of her body has been held at the Greenglade Cemetery in Farmington, IA. A celebration of life will tentatively be held on Sunday, August 14, 2016.

The Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson assisted the family with the arrangements.
