Eston N. Woodruff

Eston N. Woodruff, 92, formerly of Keosauqua, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, at Seasons Care Center in Kansas City, Mo.

A service is at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Center Chapel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Douglas Harding officiating. Burial will follow in Center Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation with family present is 1-2 p.m. Tuesday at the church prior to the service.

Memorials to Center Chapel Church or cemetery may be brought to the church or mailed to the family at P.O. Box 157, Keosauqua 52565.

Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua is handling the arrangements.

Mr. Woodruff was born July 18, 1921, in Clark County, Mo., the son of Carl and Jessie Ward Woodruff. He married Florence Adele Tweedy April 4, 1943, in Argyle. She died in 2001.

The couple farmed in Argyle until moving to Van Buren County in 1953.

He farmed in rural Mount Sterling for 30 years and retired to Keosauqua where he continued to grow a large garden and sell produce.

He was secretary-manager of Van Buren Mutual Insurance Company of Keosauqua for nearly 20 years.

He was a member of Center Chapel United Methodist Church of rural Keosauqua.

Survivors include seven children, Kenneth Woodruff of Independence, Mo., William Woodruff and spouse Kathy of Ottumwa, Norma Mahon and spouse Alan of Cantril, Nedra Carruthers and spouse Steve of Blue Springs, Mo., Mark Woodruff and spouse Donita of Keosauqua, Melody Keller and spouse Lelan of Enid, Okla., and Margie Brown and spouse Kevin of Blue Springs, Mo.; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Allen and Stanley Woodruff; one sister, Almeta Kain; and one daughter-in-law, Lynn Woodruff.
