WOODS.
Alexander H. Woods died at his home one and one-half miles northeast of Bentonsport, in Harrisburg township, Feb. 21st, 1895, aged 86 years, 6 months and 10 days. His death was caused by erysipelas, from which he had suffered about one week.

He was the last member of his father's family, and was born in Virginia, near Wheeling, August 11, 1808. He moved with his father's family to Wayne county, Ohio, when 8 years of age, settling near Wooster. In 1829 he moved to Constantine, Michigan. He came to Iowa in 1837, reaching here July 11th of that year. He settled on the farm on which he died, and made it his home for almost 58 years.

He was married to Miss Elizabeth Meek in Michigan, Jan 12, 1831. To this union was born eleven children, two sons and nine daughters. Four of the daughters died, leaving two sons, William of California, Robert M., of Bonaparte, and five daughters, Mrs. DeHart, who resides near St. Louis, Mrs. Glasscock, Mrs. Edmonson, Mrs. Leffler and Mrs. Davis, who live in this county, together with his companion, to mourn their loss. He was a highly respected and prosperous citizen, a kind husband and father and an obliging neighbor.

The funeral took place from the late home on Sunday, Feb. 24, 1895, Rev. Geo. W. Barber, of Eldon, conducting the service. The remains were interred in the Bonaparte cemetery.
