DORIS E. STANDLEY

Doris Evelyn Standley, youngest daughter of Roy and Ethel Harter Standley, was born in Burlington, Iowa, April 19, 1925, and passed away in the St. Joseph hospital in Ottumwa, Iowa, early Sunday morning, August 21, 1942, age 16 years, 4 months and 12 days, following injuries suffered in an automobile accident Saturday evening.

She grew to young womanhood near Stockport, Iowa, where she completed the eighth grade at the Hickory Grove school.

Two years ago the family moved to Keosauqua, where she attended the Keosauqua high School, completing her sophomore year, being active in all school activities. She attended the Methodist church and was a willing helper in the young people's organizations.

She leaves to mourn, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Standley, two sisters, Arlene at home and Mrs. Wilma Daugherty, and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Daugherty, of Hamilton, Ill., and a grandfather, Foster Harter of Keosauqua. Besides the family she leaves a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends.

Her sunny disposition and friendly smile made Doris a favorite amoung her classmates and friends and loved by all who knew her. Her unselfish, cheerful attitude toward life will be a sustaining memory.

Funeral services were held in the Keosauqua Methodist church Monday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. F.M. James of Fairfield officiating. Interment was in Hickory Grove cemetery near Stockport.
