Lex L. Dodds, 59, retired civilian Personnel Officer with the Department of the Army and Grand Master of the D.C. Masons in 1965, died Saturday, Jan 18, 1969 of a heart attack at his home at Leisure World, in Silver Spring, Maryland. A native of Van Buren County, Iowa, he was born Lex Leon Dodds on 11-7-1909 in Stockport, Ia. to Lute Wallace and Iowa Rose Johnston Dodds. He worked for the W.A. Schaeffer Pen Co. in Ft. Madison, Iowa and the Denver (Colo.) Daily Record before coming to Washington D.C. in 1935. He worked in Civilian Personnel Management for the Department of Interior and Dept. of the Army for 27 years, retiring in 1967 as Branch Chief of Civilian Personnel. He is survived by his wife, Eva Lee of the home, three daughters, Carol Sue Holdren of Troy, Mich; Sharon Annis of Oak Ridge, Tenn; and Lexa Dillon of Greenbelt, Md. Four sisters, Kathryn Calhoun and Erma Duncan of Iowa; Fanchon Dodds and Lura Strong of Chicago,IL; three brothers, J. M. and W. Harve of Iowa and Dee L. Dodds of Washington D.C. He was elected Grand Lodge Secretary in December 1968 and the Masonic rites were held on Tuesday evening, Jan. 21, at the S. H. Hines Funeral home. Funeral services from the same funeral home on Wednesday, Jan. 22, at 11 a.m. with burial in Ft. Lincoln Cemetery.
