Samuel H. Billingsley

Samuel H. Billingsley, son of John and Pracilla Billingsley was born on a farm one mile south of Hillsboro, Iowa, on July 27, 1861, and departed this life at the Henry county hospital at Mt. Pleasant on May 28th, 1935, at the age of 73 years, 9 months and 30 days.

In 1883 he was united in marriage to Katherine Elizabeth Woods. To this union were born three children: Vernie C., Ralph F., and Roy W.

He leaves to mourn his passing two sons, two grandsons, Clifton W. of Dallas, Oregon, and Elliott S., who made his home with him. Also one sister, Mrs. Mary E. Runyon and a number of nephews and nieces and a host of friends.

He was a charter member of the Christian church of Hillsboro and was an active member all the rest of his life. He spent all of his life on a farm south of Hillsboro where he was born and raised until 27 years ago, when he moved to town where he was residing at the time of his passing away.

He was a kind faithful husband and father and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services were held at the Christian church in Hillsboro, in charge of the Rev. L.E. McCargar. Burial was in the Hillsboro cemetery.
