Iowa H. Boyer, son of James and Mahala Boyer, was born in Lee county, Iowa, August 8, 1862, and passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C.V. Ramey, in Farmington on Feb. 8, 1941, at the age of 78 years, 5 months and 29 days. He was married to Kate M. Peterie on Feb. 3, 1884. To this union were born two daghters(sp), Zella and Hallie. He was preceded in death by his only brother, Ira, and by his wife who passed away Feb. 15, 1930.

He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows of Farmington. As a younger man he followed the occupation of framing and after moving to town, served as city marshal for several years.

He leaves to mourn his passing two daughters, Mrs. Clarence Collins and Mrs. C.V. Ramey, both of Farmington, several nieces and nephews, and many friends.

He lived simply, doing a good turn whenever he could. He loved the out of doors and as long as he was able spent a great deal of the time outside. He always had time to exchange a cheerful and friendly word with those he met. Although he has been in failing health for some time, he never complained. He was patient and courageous, being especially considerate of those who cared for him in his last illness.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Farmington Congregational church at 2 p.m. with Rev. McMican of Sharon officiating. Burial was in Farmington cemetery.
