Mrs. Ben Ewing

Mrs. Ben Ewing, 66, lifelong resident of the Mt. Zion community, died Saturday night, Aug. 22 as Memorial hospital, Keosauqua after a short illness.

She was born at Kilbourne May 20, 1893, the daughter of Sloan and Laura Carr Maxwell. She was married February 16, 1910, to Mr. Ewing, who survives. She was an active member of the Mt. Zion Presbyterian church.

Besides her husband she leaves a son, Max Ewing of Keosauqua; a daughter, Mrs. Elza Loeffler of near Birmingham; a sister, Mrs. Ray Martin of Kilbourne; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Five brothers and sisters preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 25, at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Zion Presbyterian church. The Rev. Donald E. Freeman of Birmingham was assisted by Dr. H.C. Irvine of Fairfield. Burial was in Kilboune cemetery.
