MRS. W.S. ALLEN

Mrs. Ella McCormick Allen, age 72, died at 10:30 o'clock Thursday morning, Jan. 22 at home 303 E. Burlington street, Fairfield, after an illness of about three weeks.

Mrs. Allen was the widow of Hon. W.S. Allen Secretary of State of Iowa from 1913 to 1919. Mr. Allen died Dec. 6, 1925. Prior to becoming Secretary of State he was State Senator, having been elected in 1908 from the Van Buren Jefferson district and serving in the 33rd and 34th general assemblies.

The home of the Allen family was for many years in Birmingham, Van Buren county, moving (missing) Birmingham to Fairfield in 19??.

She is survived by one (missing) B. Allen of Fairfield, and (missing) (sister), Mrs. George S. Jay (missing) ampton, Mass. Both (missing) their mother at the t(missing) passing away.

She was prominent in (missing) life of Fairfield, being a (member of) the P.E.O. and a number (of other) clubs and societies.
