Arlo Pickard

Arlo Pickard, 63 1/2 Ave. H, Ft. Madison, son of Hiram and Rebecca Almond Pickard, was born Dec. 14, 1876, at Salem, Ia., and passed away Nov. 19 at the Sacred Heart hospital in Ft. Madison, aged 82 years, 10 months, 23 days, after a serious illness of two days.

On Dec. 3, 1902, he was united in marriage to Nina McMurren at Salem, Ia. Mr. Pickard was a retired farmer. He was employed for eight years at the Hinde and Dauche Paper Mill. He was a member of Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. No. 17 of Salem, and also a member of the Salem Methodist church.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Erma Felgar of Ft. Madison, one brother, Oscar Pickard, Wever, Ia., rural, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. One son, nine brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

Services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, Nov. 23 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Ft. Madison. Playing organ selections was Mrs. Allen Edwards of Ft. Madison and officiating was Dr. Claude W. Coper of Ft. Madison Methodist church. Pallbearers were Craig Smart, Roy Pickard, Fred Pickard, Larry Pickard, Ira Pickard, Hiram Pickard. Masonic rites were spoken at burial in Friends cemetery at Salem.
