Dorothy J. Manley

Dorothy J. Manley, age 88, formerly of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 8:34 am on Friday, November 14, 2014 at the South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Georgia.

She was born on June 11, 1926 near Keosauqua and Mt. Zion, Iowa the daughter of Roy and Evelyn (Brown) Kisling. Dorothy attended schools in the Keosauqua and Mt. Zion area, graduating from Keosauqua High School. On December 4, 1948, Dorothy married Francis D. "Skeepo" Manley in Fairfield, Iowa. He preceded her in death on February 12, 1999.

Dorothy taught country school and was also employed at the Fairfield Glove and Mitten Factory. After marriage, she was a housewife and mother. Dorothy was known for her delicious homemade pies that were popular at the Warren County Prime Beef Festival Foursquare food tent. She was an active member of the Foursquare Church in Monmouth.

Dorothy is survived by four daughters: Linda (Donald) Orr of Monmouth, IL; Donna (Mark) Kjellander of Livingston, TX.; Sharon (Robert) Davis of Fulda, MN; and Rev. Pam Manley of Vermillion, OH, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by five sisters and three brothers: Mildred Bowman of Montrose, CO; Helen Manley of Fairfield, IA; Grace Whitfield of Perry, FL; Lola (Donald) Jewell of Bettendorf, IA; and Carol Kisling of Cedar Rapids, IA; Dwight (Kay) Montrose of Montrose, CO; Charles (Doris) Kisling of Keosauqua, IA; and Dean (Linda) Kisling of Cedar Rapids, IA. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson, and three brothers.

A funeral service is planned for 2:00 pm on Friday, November 21, 2014 at the New Life Foursquare Gospel Church in Monmouth, Illinois.

Visitation is planned for Friday, November 21, 2014 from 10 am - 12 pm at the New Life Foursquare Gospel Church in Monmouth, IL.

Interment will follow at the Monmouth Cemetery.
