Fred D. Chambers

BONAPARTE - Fred D. Chambers, 70, Bonaparte, died unexpectedly at 3:10 p.m. Thursday, May 20,1976 in Van Buren County Memorial Hospital Keosauqua.

He was born Jan. 17, 1906, at Keokuk. His parents were Fred D. and Dora High Chambers.

He married Pearl L. Davis April 1, 1930, in Aledo, Ill. She survives.

A resident of Bonaparte 50 years, Mr. Chambers was employed at the IAAP, Burlington, during World War II. He owned and operated The Snack Shack Cafe in Bonaparte, retiring in 1968.

Surviing in addition to his widow; are two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Vivian) Douthart of Bonaparte and Mrs. Virginia Douthart of Fort Madison; three sons, Glenn of Denmark, Fred Jr. of Muscatine and Bill Chambers of Bonaparte; a sister, Mrs. Emerson (Lea Mae) Russell; nine grandchildren and a great granddaughter, also nieces.

Seven brothers and three grandchildren preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Bonaparte Presbyterian church. The Rev. Scott Holmes will officiate with interment in the Bonaparte Cemetery.

The body is at the Carl Wilson Home in Bonaparte where visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Miller-Hofabuer [sic] Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
