Florence E. Baker

Florence E. Baker, 97, of Boone, and formerly of Libertyville, died Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at Hearthstone Memory Care Unit of the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone.

A private family graveside service will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery at Birmingham.

Memorials may be made to Faith United Methodist Church of Libertyville or Libertyville Community Center.

Stark-Welin Funeral Directors in Boone is handling arrangements.

Mrs. Baker was born June 13, 1916, near Birmingham, the daughter of Floyd and Wilda May Oosthoek Moore. She married Eugene "Gene" Baker Oct. 1, 1938. He died in 1986.

She graduated from Birmingham High School in 1933.

She was a homemaker on the couple's farm near Libertyville. She also clerked in stores and was a secretary for the Jefferson County ASCS office for a number of years.

Survivors include one son, Allan Baker and spouse Mary Jean of Ames; two grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Aileen Matheson and Jeanette Samuelson; one brother, Fred Moore.
