Tanner N. Tharp, 29, unexpectedly left this world to begin his walk with Jesus on April 4, 2016. There he joins his mother, Angela Hofer, and five grandparents that preceded him in death.

He was born in Cedar Rapids on March 24, 1987, and grew up in Douds, IA, where he graduated from high school. He moved to the West Des Moines area in 2007 and worked for Al Laudenica at Big Al's BBQ and Catering as well as Biaggis Italian Restaurant. He was currently enrolled at La' James International. He loved the outdoors where he worked with his father in the timber for Hofer Logging as a heavy machine operator as well as enjoying snowboarding, riding his bicycle and motorcycle, and hunting and fishing. He will be remembered for high energy, upbeat charm and ability to make anyone smile.

Tanner was devoted to his family and a loving father to his daughters. Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Scarlett Tharp and Alivia McIntosh; father, Paul Hofer, siblings, Joshua (Nicole) Hofer, Autumn (Steven) Conrad; Paul (Olevia) Hofer III, Alyisa (Tanner) Gire; Chelsie (Scott) Hardee and Brittany Tharp; grandparents, Jim and Linda Kearns; nine nieces and nephews and many extended family members and friends.

Funeral services were held on April 9 at Lutheran Church of Hope followed by cremation. Private burial was at Glendale Cemetery.
