Gerald Turner, 85, of Farmington, IA, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at his home in Farmington.

Born December 1, 1930, in Birmingham, IA, the son of George Elmer and Elsie (Poole) Turner. On December 20, 1956, he married Josephine B. Manning in Keosauqua, IA. She preceded him in death on January 8, 2008.

Survivors include one son, Ronnie (Ruth Ann) Turner of Farmington, IA, one grandson, Preston (Danielle) Turner, two great-granddaughters, Jade Kennedy and Genevieve Turner, one great-grandson, Christian Turner, one great-great grandson due in May 2016, two sisters, Carroll Lannom of Gladesville, TN, and Virginia Robison of Keosauqua, IA, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Josephine, one son, Kenneth Turner, two sisters, Ethel Coleman and Marie Grimson, three brothers, Elmer, John and Merrill Turner, one niece and one great-nephew.

Gerald served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked as a farmer and a truck driver. Spending time with his family and grandchildren were most important to him. Gerald enjoyed working with his hands, improving his farm and home, riding motorcycles, the outdoors and playing cards. He was a member of the Farmington American Legion Richardson Anthony Post #231. From the beginning of his life he was loving, wise, giving, loyal and dedicated to all that knew him. There was no other person on earth like him. He was very special and wonderful to many people. He is now where he belongs, at home in Heaven, in the loving arms of Jesus.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2016, at Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson with Pastor Andy Bunnell officiating. Burial will be at the Greenglade Cemetery in Farmington, IA, with full military rites presented by the Farmington American Legion Richardson Anthony POSt #231.

The Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson is assisting the family with arrangements.
