Obituary of Frank M. Sullivan

Frank M. Sullivan, son of Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Sullivan, was born on a farm, now known as the Seth Baird farm, in Chequest township, Van Buren county, Iowa, and departed this life, Wednesday, Dec. 31, at 10:20 p.m., at Phoenix, Arizona. When a young man he was converted and joined the Chequest Presbyterian church, and later transferred his membership to the Methodist Episcopal church at Pittsburg. On Feb. 19, 1901, he was united in marriage with Miss Maria Isabel Etheridge. To this union one child, a son, Van Leslie, was born. Most of their married life was spent near Pittsburg. Frank will be greatly missed in his home community, where he was loved, and in the church where he was an earnest and faithful worker, and it was with real sorrow his friends bade him farewell to go to a home in Mesa, Arizona. He soon made friends in the new home and for over a year enjoyed the new country. A year ago in this month his health began to fail.

During the summer he and his wife came to Iowa and made an extended visit. His many friends look back with pleasure on the many happy hours spent in his company on this visit. Or returning home he did not regain his health but gradually failed until the Master called him to his heavenly home and it was a home coming. He was ready to enter the Celestial City. In his last moments he raised his hand, a smile played over his face and he said, "I have seen Him." He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, son, father two sisters - Mrs. Z.D. Hoops and Mrs. C.D. Camblin, five nieces and many relatives and friends. Funeral services were held in the Pittsburg M.E. church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Milburn. Interment was made in the Pittsburg cemetery.
