Obituary Of Mrs. Reatherford

Christa A. Armentrout, daughter of Michael and Mary Armentrout, was born in Van Buren county, Iowa, near Selma, May 1, 1853, and departed this life at her home in Kilbourne, Iowa, the morning of September 26, 1919, aged 66 years, 4 months and 25 days. She was married to G.W. Reatherford, November 29, 1871. To this union were born six children: Edward D., who departed this life at the early age of 3; Olive R., now Mrs. Wm. Hootman, Kilbourne; Geo. D. Wiseton, Saskatchewan, Canada; Mary E. Mrs. Charles Steinhauser, Davenport, Iowa; Hattie A., Mrs. Floyd Hendrix, and Henry C. of Winifred, Mont. These with seven living grandchildren and the living members of her mother's family, which consisted of five boys and girls, all having preceded her in death except Mrs. Lydia Morrow of Douds, Iowa; Mrs. Lucinda Sopher of Kansas; Peter Armentroug, her twin brother, survive her departure. She was converted at Douds several years ago and attended church and Sunday school as long as she was able. She was a member of the Ladies' Aid. She had been a resident of Kilbourne for 34 years, with the exception of a few months spent visiting her children in the west. She was industrious and possessed a cheerful disposition. Long will she life in our memories. She was often heard to quote these lines: "Thank God early things are not forever. Eternal bliss will never pass away." The funeral service was held at the Kilbourn Methodist church Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. H.W. M???ster, of the Birmingham, M.E. church.
