William Albert Packer, son of Thomas V. and Margaret Linton Packer was born Dec. 5, 1952, at Oakland Mills, Iowa, and died at his home in Bonaparte, Iowa, Feb. 28, 1920, at the age of 67 years, 2 mos. and 23 days.

In 1862 he moved with his parents to a farm in the northern part of Lee County where he grew to manhood. He finished his education at Whittier College in Salem, Iowa. At the age of sixteen he began teaching school and continued teaching for about sixteen years. For many years after this he was a salesman until 1914, when he went into business of his own.

On June 8, 1882, he was married to Miss Emma Chapman of Bonaparte. To them were born three children, Albert Earle, who preceded him in death ten months, Ethel I., and Mrs. Refa Butts.

He was fifth in a family of nine, of whom four brothers and sisters survive: Mahlon Packer, Miss Annie Packer, and Mrs. John Collatt of Salem, Iowa, and Zade Packer of Springfield, Missouri.

Funeral services were held at the home on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. S.D. McCracken officiating. Interment in Bonaparte Cemetery.
