Noah E. Duncan

Noah E. [Elbert] Duncan, 81, of Bonaparte died Monday, Aug 22, [1971] at 7:05 PM in Henry county Memorial hospital, Mt. Pleasant. He had been failing for several months.

He was born April 8, 1890 in Lee county, the son of John Duncan and Elizabeth Thornton Duncan.

He married Lenora Haynes at Ottumwa on May 17, 1912. She preceded him in death.

A retired farmer, he spent most of his life in the Bonaparte-Hillsboro area.

Surviving are five sons – Fred of Hillsboro, Ray of Keosauqua rural, Lawrence of Mt. Pleasant, Clayton of Farmington; Robert of Bonaparte; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one brother and one [two] sister[s].

The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, in the Bonaparte United Methodist church. The Rev. Edward Maus officiated. Burial was in the Bonaparte cemetery.

The Miller-Hofbauer Funeral Home, Farmington, was in charge of arrangements.
