MRS. CHAS. B. RAY

Sarah M. Neusom was born in Bartholomew county, Indiana, November 26, 1842 and died at her home south of Bonaparte, Iowa, January 26, 1919, at the age of seventy six years and two months.

In 1845 she removed with her parents to Van Buren county, Iowa, settling on a farm east of Farmington. Five years later the family moved to a farm west of Farmington where she lived until her marriage. On the 28th day of January, 1869, (fifty years ago the day of her burial) she was united in marriage to Charles B. Ray. To them one daughter, Lottie, now Mrs. Frank J. Watts of Bonaparte, was born.

Mrs. Ray awaits the coming to the other shore of her husband, her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Watts, her grandson, Leslie Watts, and three sisters who are living in California, and also many more distant relatives, all living in the West, except a cousin by marriage, Mrs. Aus Hollowell of Keokuk.

While yet quite young she gave her heart to the Master but never united with any church. Her life was an example of loving helpfulness. All her neighbors and friends unite in testimony of her sterling worth as a wife, a mother and a friend. To know her was to hold her in high esteem.

On Friday evening at about eleven thirty she was taken with a stroke of paralysis affecting her right side. Some hours later her left side became paralyzed and death came to her relief at one thirty Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Ray lived her entire married life, lacking only two days of fifty years, on the farm where she died.
Funeral services were held in the Baptist church at Bonaparte, under the charge of Rev. J. S. Coppoc, on Tuesday afternoon, January 28, and interment was in the Bonaparte cemetery.

Words can not express our gratitude to our friends and neighbors who assisted and comforted us, and especially those who furnished flowers, in our late bereavement.
