Death Comes To Miss Hazel Overman
**Handwritten: Jan. 7, 1957Miss Hazel Marguerite Overman, 631 North Court street, died at the Ottumwa hospital at 12:30 p.m. Monday.
She was born in Keosauqua, the daughter of William C. and Carrie Overman. She is survived by her sister, Miss Helen Overman, Ottumwa. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
Miss Overman came to Ottumwa with her parents in early childhood, attended the Ottumwa public schools and Grinnell college and was graduated from the National Kindergarten college in Chicago in 1916.
She taught in the Ottumwa public schools for 14 years.
She was a member of the First Methodist church, Chapter G., P.E.O., D.A.R., Mizpah circle of the King's Daughters, Unity club and K.W.E.O. club.
For many years Miss Overman was active in civic and church affairs, serving in Christmas Seal and Red Cross work.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Jay funeral home conducted by the Rev. Paul M. Hann, D.D., of the First Methodist church. Burial will be in Ottumwa cemetery.
