Marion F. Parker

Marion Francis Parker son of Jesse and Clara Parker, was born in Keosauqua, Iowa, on October 15, 1904. With the exception of six months spent in California he spent his entire life in Keosauqua where he attended school and graduated from high school in the class of 1924. After his graduation he worked for two years in the Post Office with his father and for the last eleven years has worked for the Farmer's Co-Operative Creamery of Keosauqua.

On December 25, 1925 he was united in marriage to Pauline Casady, to this union one daughter Darlene was born.

In 1932 he united with the Methodist Church, under the ministry of the Rev. M.E. Hayes, and remained an active and faithful member until the time of his death. For several years he served as a member of the Board of Stewards where his services will be greatly missed.

To know him was to love him for his fine friendliness and his cheerful goodwill. He was a true and trusted friend and was ever ready to give his services to any who needed them. He had a splendid courage and was hopeful and optimistic, looking always for the bright side of things. In his last sickness, with the odds tremendously against him, he fought a goood fight and steadfastly refused to give up until the last.

Though he had been in failing health for some time, he was uncomplaining and did not realize the nature and seriousness of his trouble until within the last year. In spite of everything that medical science, loyal friends and loving hearts and hands could do he passed away at his home in Keosauqua May 4, 1939, aged 34 years 6 months and 19 days.

Besides his wife and daughter, Darlene, he leaves to mourn his departure, his mother Mrs. Jesse Parker and one sister, Mrs. Florence Hall both of Keosauqua, a number of other relatives and a host of friends. One sister Jessie June and his father preceded him in death.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. C.H. Orf at the Keosauqua Methodist Church, Sunday afternoon May 7. Interment was in Purdom Cemetery.
