Monroe Wiley Barton
Monroe Wiley Barton, son of Harry F. and Ella M. Barton, was born at Farmington, Iowa, November 12, 1893, and departed this life at Sacred Heart hospital, Ft. Madison, Oct. 5, 1935, at the age of 41 years, 10 months and 23 days.
Mr. Barton had two brothers and two sisters and they remain to reel keenly his death. They are Mrs. Roy Gray, Ft. Madison, Mrs. S.O. Hartrick, Farmington, Ora Barton, Elvria(?), Ohio, and Merritt Barton of Winfield, Iowa.
He was united in marriage with Miss Lulu Krr (Kerr), Sept. 4, 1915. Three children came to bless this union. One died in infancy and Robert Stanley Barton and Naomi Mary Barton remain to mourn the loss of both mother and father in one year's time. One year ago today Mrs. Barton departed this life. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Barton went to Chicago and resided here for seven years and then came back to Farmington to make their home. He has been an automobile mechanic since before his marriage.
After the death of Mrs. Barton, his mother, Mrs. Ella Barton, came to help keep the home together and she looked after the interests of her son and grandchildren. Mrs. Barton mourns the departure of her son. Mr. Barton was a man with a kindly nature, even tempered, and a lover of his home and family. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America 2801, of Farmington.
Funeral services were held Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the Farmington Methodist Episcopal church and were conducted by the Rev. Harvey E. Butler, pastor. Interment was made in the Farmington cemetery.
