Edwin C. Christian, who lived with his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Christian, at 1502 Fourth street, Fort Madison, dropped dead yesterday afternoon at 3 o’clock. He was assisting Charles Stilhest in unloading a wagon load of coal from M. Case’s wagon in the alley at the rear of 818 Third street. He complained of not feeling well and Mr. ***hest told him to get into the wagon and fill the baskets and he would carry them in. When Stlhest returned from carrying the fifth basket of coal, Christian was lying stretched out in the bottom of the wagon box. Stilheat summoned a physician at once, who upon arrival, pronounced him dead. Mr. Christian has been for many years an ***ptic and death was doubtless ***d from heart disease. - Gate city
