Tom Morris Killed.

Thos. J. Morris was instantly killed and J. D. Henderson fatally injured in a railroad accident at Eldon Friday night, Feb. 22. The two men were crossing the tracks near the station when a string of cars being switched by the yard engine struck them. Both men reside in Eldon. They were watching another train and did not notice the cars that struck them until it was too late to get out of the way.

Mr. Morris’ body was badly crushed and a leg and arem were cut off. He was thirty years old and leaves a wife and family. His wife was Nina Haywood, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Haywood.

Mr. Henderson had both feet cut off and was otherwise injured about the body. He was 46 years old and also leaves a wife and family.

Thomas Leo Morris was born at Bonaparte, Iowa, Feb. 8, 1877, and died at Eldon, Iowa, Feb. 22, 1907, being thirty years and fourteen days old.

On Dec. 28, 1899, he was united in marriage to Nina E. Haywood at Bonaparte, Iowa, and to them two children were born, Gretchen aged six years, and Velda aged nine months.

He was a member of Van Buren lodge, No. 350 I.O.O.F. at Selma, Iowa: of Celestial Lodge No. 413 A.F.&A.M. at Douds, Iowa, and of Eldon, Iowa.

His mother was brought from Scotts Bluff, Nebraska, and interred in the Bonaparte cemetery Nov. 27 last. Beside his wife and children he leaves to mourn their loss a father, three brothers, one sister, and many warm friends.

The remains were brought to Bonaparte Monday noon and interred in the Bonaparte cemetery, the M.W.A. being in charge. His remains were accompanied here in a special care by a large delegation from the Eldon Camp of Woodmen and by members of the other lodges of which he was affiliated. There were at least one hundred men marching the funeral procession.
