John Lightfoot Killed

Jno. Lightfoot was killed yesterday afternoon while on his way from the farm to Farmington, the fatality being one of horror to the many friends of this man.

He was on his way to town with a load of corn and had stopped at the Howard Kelley home, a half mile out to unload several bushels of the feed. He had accomplished this and, it is presumed in endeavoring to remount the wagon fell, and the team frightening, started to run, the wheels passing over the head, death being instantaneous. No one was with him and just the manner in which the accident occurred will never be known.

The body was found at once, Mrs. Kelley and other women in the house being attracted to the road by the running team, and in looking for the driver, discovered the man in the road. Mr. Kelley and a neighbor responded at once to a call and phoned for a doctor, who was taken at once to the stricken man by Ed Irish and Treasurer Meek, who happened to be near, in an auto. The doctor at once pronounced the man dead.

The team ran on into town and was stopped, the corn being scattered on the road.
