Mary, youngest child of Wm. H. and Mary Deidrich, was born on the home farm near Utica, Iowa, October 25th, 1870, and passed away in Phoenix, Arizona, Feb. 10, 1915, aged 45 years, 3 months and 21 days.
She attended the district school at Pierceville and was unusually studious. Her parents being Lutherans she to (sic) was of that faith and a faithful Christian woman. She resided with her parents during their lifetime and after their death she and her sister, Anna, kept the home until Anna’s death after a lingering illness of several years during which time Mary was her devoted nurse and companion.
Shortly after this her health failed and she was removed to a hospital and kept there until the autumn of 1914 when her brother, Fred, took her to Phoenix hoping that the change of climate and surroundings might benefit her. After only a few months enjoyment of the comforts he provided for her she passed away.
She is survived by her brothers, Fred and William of Maxwell, Neb. She like Paul could say: “For me to live is Christ, to die is gain.”
Funeral services were held February 15 at the M.E. church of Utica conducted by Rev. J.W. Stine of Stockport, with interment in Dibble cemetery.
